When We All Die
I am not sure how universal this is, but when we get older, do we all focus more on the age of death of people we read in the news? Do we silently calculate -- if the reported age is older than our current age -- how many more years before we hit that same age? And if the reported age is younger, do we congratulate ourselves for having outlived that particular person, or do we think we may now drop dead anytime?
Of course, I have to also read a book that is about death -- many deaths and their ages. Still reading, but I have enjoyed the novel so far.
(The book, by the way, is Everything Was Beautiful and Nothing Hurt, by Ben Reeves. Yes, there are quite a few deaths in the novel. No, the novel is not morbid.)
