This Is My Last

All the OS 27s Are Out

After a summer of betas, all the new and improved Apple OSes for the new year have been released.

No, you don't have to rush to upgrade all your Apple devices. But if your device can be upgraded, you will eventually want to upgrade. It could be a newer version of an app that you use regularly requires the new OS. Or maybe your device has stopped receiving security updates.

So, do plan to find a day in your life where you can afford to not use your device. Do add in some buffer time to factor in all the indexing and whatever the OS is doing after the upgrade. Apple has gotten great in these major upgrades, and one doesn't hear about significant problems anymore. But do factor that in your buffer time too.

Well, if your upgrade goes smoothly, you have additional time to play around with the new stuff.

The headline feature of the new stuff is, of course, Siri AI. It is still labeled as Beta, and there is a waitlist to enable this feature. But, based on reviews, it seems it is much better than whatever Apple promised two years for Apple Intelligence.

The better deal, though, is probably the better Liquid Glass. Apple is never expected to do an u-turn on its design, I don't think, but the new OSes are continuing to fix the design problems introduced last year. And if you really dislike last year's update, you may enjoy this year's update better. Or, at least, not be distracted by Liquid Glass when using your devices.
